Aztec blue and shades of coral, the empty forms of century-old linen embroidery repaired with ceramic, wooden, glass and crystal beads. The to and fro of the machine’s stitching soothes, restores and repairs the faded cloth, creating a new story to tell and be told, worn and displayed. Admired. Beads from here and far away, telling their stories, chanting their tales, reminding us of past lives.

Like a frozen landscape of coloured crystal warmed by the soft intertwining yarns of winter, old fabrics are rekindled, repaired and united in a second life.

An old Chinese silk embroidery, ripped and torn, once loved as a cushion cover, is given new life, repaired, re-embroidered, beaded and cherished. The heron, restored to its former glory, stands majestically amid a cascade of vintage crystal and metal beads.

A family relic, like the plastron of an Amazon warrior composed of the scales of a mock crocodile, is brightened and enlivened with crystal and little crescent-shaped beads in a myriad of pink and gold tones.

Inspired by the Chinese cheongsam, beads flow across the imaginary rice fields of a distant land. Animals should never die for the sake of their fur. Here more than half a century old, the fur is exalted and glorified by glass and crystal beads with the intention of asking forgiveness.
